The visit brings you closer to the Paraje Natural del Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, a limestone gorge created by the passage of the Guadalhorce River over millions of years. 5. Get lost in the streets of any town in the Axarquía

The province of Málaga was once divided into Axarquía (eastern zone) and Algarbia (western zone). The Axarquía has the attractions of the sea and the mountain, as it gathers 32 municipalities that are distributed between the Costa del Sol and the interior of the province of Málaga. Created in 1970 by José Banús, Puerto Banús is part of the so-called Golden Mile, which includes Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís. 7. Taste the fried fish in Carihuela

Malaga is the cradle of fried fish and skewers. Anchovies, red mullet, calamari, sardines … star in the most recognized dishes of Malaga cuisine. La Carihuela, in Torremolinos, a fishermen’s neighborhood in the past, is today one of the best places for fried fish on the Costa del Sol. The beach of La Carihuela, two kilometers long, extends to the Benalmádena Marina. 8. Visit a craft cheese factory

The cheeses of Málaga are one of the stars of the provincial gastronomy. There are many artisan cheese shops that are spread throughout the province, mainly producing goat’s milk cheeses, but also desserts or cottage cheese. There are several cheese factories that offer the visitor the possibility of knowing their facilities and the process of making artisan cheese. In Alhaurín el Grande, for example, is the cheese factory El Pastor del Valle, run by Pepi Burgos, one of the first cheesemakers in the province. 9. Atarazanas Market

Located in the historic center of Malaga, the Atarazanas market is a place full of life and where you can enjoy the most of Malaga atmosphere. In it you can not only discover the best of Málaga’s gastronomy, but you can also enjoy the art of tapas in the different establishments in the market. The market originates from the Moorish period and was rehabilitated in 2010 and is now an essential meeting place for lovers of traditional Malaga cuisine.

10. Taste wines from Ronda

The Serrania de Ronda offers the possibility of knowing its gastronomy through the Ruta de los Vinos de Ronda, included within the wine routes of Spain.
